was born in Barcelona, and started her musical studies at the Escola Superior de Música de Barcelona, continuing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and the Musikhochschule Köln. She studied under Vicenç Prats, Carlos Bruneel, Robert Winn and Dirk Peppel.
She participated successfully in prestigious competitions such as the Benelux Stichting Nationaal Fluitconcours in the Netherlands, the Spanish prize competitions Open Competition of Music Performance in Arjau, the 4th Instrumental Competition Sant Anastasi, Primer Palau and Jeunesses Musicales (2009). As a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Foundation she took part in the Bayreuth Festival in 2011.
Additionally, she gathered experience in numerous orchestras, such as the Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen, the Orchestre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Badische Staatskapelle in Karlsruhe, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the Folkwang Kammermusikorchester in Essen, the Penedes Chamber Orchestra and the Sinfonie Leverkusen. Laia Bobi Frutos also performed as solo flautist with the Radio Orchestra Madrid in the Teatro Monumental in Madrid, with the Andorra Chamber Music Orchestra in the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and in the Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen.
Since 2010 she is a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra Hagen AND of the CrossingLines Ensemble. Currently she also plays in a chamber music duet with the pianist Comsin Boeru and performs on a regular basis in Germany and abroad.
