Gemma Corrales Argumánez / flute and piccolo


was born in Alicante where she studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante „Oscar Esplá” under Carolina Lluch. She successfully completed her studies in Spain in 2005 and added further studies at the Musikhochschule Köln under Robert Winn and Thaddeus Watson and at the Musikhochschule Detmold under János Balint.

She was awarded prizes in both national and international competitions such as the Jeunesses Musicales Spain, Concurso Nacional de „Jóvenes Intérpretes de Xátiva“, Certamen Internacional „Toxiria Flauta 05“, and the Concurso de Jóvenes Intérpretes „Ruperto Chapí“.

Gemma has performed in Spain, Great Britain, Germany and Slovenia. In 2007 she made her solo debut in the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona together with the chamber orchestra of Andorra.

The multifaceted flautist was also effective in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in cooperation with renowned conductors. She completed a traineeship at the Duisburger Philharmoniker and played in the season 2011/12 at the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen. Furthermore, she gathered experience at the Sinfonieorchester Aachen, the Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen, and the Ensemble musikFabrik.

Since 2013 she is member of Octans Ensemble.
