Ekaterina Ryzhova / flute and piccolo


was born in Togliatti, Russia. After finishing her studies at the Musical College Nizhny Nowgorod, she decided on further musical studies at the Musikhochschule Köln in Germany. She studied under Robert Winn, Thaddeus Watson and Dirk Peppel. She attended four master classes under renowned flautists and chamber musicians such as Prof. Renate Greiss-Armis, Robert Dick and Prof. Anthony Spiri.

Ekaterina Ryzhova is award winner of numerous competitions, such as the International Competition in Finnland, the Contest for Woodwind Players at the conservatory in Cologne, and several pan-Russian competitions.

In addition, she loves playing in several chamber music formations, especially in combination with cello and piano. In this setting she participated in 2011 in an exchange programme with the Juilliard School of New York.

Furthermore, Ekatarina Ryzhova gathered experience in a considerable number of orchestras such as the Internationales Jugendorchester Bonn, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Folkwang Kammermusikorchester Essen and the Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen.
